Fall at Hollywood Farms: Friends, First Hunts & Fields in Bloom

Dear Friends of Hollywood Farms,

Fall is, without a doubt, our favorite season at Hollywood Farms.

The summer heat begins to soften, the leaves start their slow golden fade, and the work we’ve done in the fields all year long begins to show in vibrant color. Dove season is in full swing, and football season brings friends and family together under the pavilion for good food, beautiful sunsets, and private dove hunts just a few hundred yards from the old home place.

This season, we hosted three fantastic groups for private dove shoots – lots of birds, great camaraderie, and plenty of game-day celebrations afterward.

Our retrievers worked hard in the sunflower and cotton fields (the latter was tough terrain, but the dogs were tougher), and the fellowship before and after each hunt was as memorable as the shooting itself.

We also welcomed Northwestern Mutual back for their second annual Fall Festival at the farm. Families and children enjoyed hayrides, bounce houses, delicious food, and the kind of laughter that echoes long after everyone’s gone home.

Hollywood Farms has been a family place for over 100 years, and it’s always an honor to share it with good folks who value making lasting memories. If you’re thinking about bringing your group next year, now’s the time to let us know.

Youth deer season was also a great success. We hosted three families with ten children, and four young hunters harvested their first deer – each one hunting side by side with a parent in our specially designed family stands.

It’s hard to describe the pride and joy on a kid’s face when they achieve something that meaningful. It’s what hunting is all about.

And still – my favorite thing might be watching the quail woods come alive in the fall.

Some folks don’t care for ragweed or goldenrod (and I get it—my wife’s allergies don’t either), but the explosion of color, the sound of birds whistling, and the excitement in the dogs as they catch that first cool breeze – it’s something I never get tired of.

Our first hunts are just around the corner, and I can hardly wait.
